Mother's Day at Chez Mignon

there's this gal up the street that i've known since we were silly teenagers and serendipitously she moved back from far away with her little girl brood and menagerie of fabulous detritus of all sorts from her former life...then along came a Boy with his little scrappy dog and now we have some action up the other end of the 'hood. so we gathered for a brunch on Mother's Day, which i usually pay no attention to. but i liked it all- the food, the champagne, the stray mothers, the non-mother's, the animals, the men and the princesses putting on a show.

here they are in all their glory...

A Visit From the Queen of France

with her subjects waiting with bated breath she swept into town last month and all were tumbling in her wake as they tried desperately to get a meal or a glass of wine or at least a martini gulped down before she was off and running to the next town...she did quite well actually, her loyal peasants (not to mention the ma and pa) eating and drinking at every opportunity. she even mesmerized the Boy for a dinner of pasta and hard talking, get-it-together lessons for his nibs...

of course i mean miss Dominique Vivier, here from the south of France last month where we were able to pass, like ships in the night, with the red flag waving for a dinner with the one and only Kati S. who spent the evening charming the pants off of the monsieur, Pierre, while nibbling on homemade tacos and drinking a shit load of wine...

photos to follow...

here's what we ate: artichoke on toast as apps, fresh guacomole, fresh chicken-mole on corn tortillas. don't ask me what we drank. plenty..
